Candidal diaper rash is seen in children on broad spectrum antibiotic therapy or infected with oral thrush or sometimes with acute diarrhea. It is caused by Candida albicans. It is diagnosed clinically and can be confirmed by a KOH examination; usually citing pseudohyphae.
It is characterized by sharply demarcated, intensely red, scaly plaques with satellite papules and pustules.There is Involvement of Skin Folds.
Along with the general measures, apply antifungal topical creams like miconazole, clotrimazole 3-4 times a day for a duration 2-3 weeks, i.e. continuing at least 7 days after lesions have healed.
