Early childhood intervention (ECI) is a trans-disciplinary service for children (0-3 years of age) who are at risk for developmental delays or disabilities, and their families.
When children have special needs, both parents and their children benefit from early childhood intervention.
ECI includes support, information and guidanceto help a child’s development. ECI helps infants and toddlers reach their full potential and minimize the effects of a disability or developmental delay on the children and their families.
Early childhood intervention contains educational, therapeutic and preventive components,
which has a team of Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Special Educators and Psychologists who work together under one roofto develop and deliver a plan of service for the child and the family. The child does not have to spend many hours in separate therapies but receives family focussed child-centred intervention for 50 min to 1 hour at a time.
