The echocardiography measurements of the internal dimension of the proximal coronary segments are expressed as Z scores, which are normalized on the basis of body surface area. Coronary artery aneurysms (CAA) are considered :

  • small if z-scores are between 2.5 to <5
  • medium if zscores are between 5 to <10
  • large or giant if z-scores are >10.

The Echo can be normal when done at 1st contact with the patient. Therefore, even a normal Echo should be repeated at 1-2 weeks and again at 4-6 weeks. With a diseased coronary the follow up depends upon the size of the aneursyms, when they stabilize and the response to therapy.
